Next week I will be teaching a training seminar to a group of primary English language teachers in Manresa (Barcelona).
The seminar is called “From oral to writing, a long (or short!) and winding road”, in which we will have a look (as deep as we can!) to the main language skills.
We all agree that oral competence is paramount to lead children to literacy and to a competent level in English language. Nowadays writing seems to take an important role at the end of primary, as this is the first year in which this competence has been evaluated in “Proves de Competències Bàsiques” (*) in grade 6 in Catalonia.
This will be a practical course in which the four main language skills will be the main characters. I will to offer some interesting resources to design develop and analyze activities, tasks and content based projects in order to set an “identikit picture” of how an activity must be to be competent.
After that, and during the following weeks this blog will be in “stand by” (same as the author!).
It has been a long and a hard school year, and we all deserve a good rest.
So, relax, take care of your body and your soul, and recharge your batteries.
I’ll be back in September and I hope new interesting resources, projects, tasks, will arise for to be published in Cockroaches and Ladybugs blog.
